It was presentation time at the Jennings’ supersite in Middlesbrough recently when a lucky man from Grantham in Lincs received the key to a brand new motor, courtesy of a local charity.
The Emaan Foundation, founded by Nas Khan, managing director of Jennings Motor Group which operates Ford, Mazda, SEAT and Kia dealerships across the North East, was set up to help the people of Pakistan who were affected by the floods last summer.
The raffle to win a brand new Ford Ka Studio, worth more than £9000 was organised as part of the charity’s on-going fundraising activity to raise £120,000 to construct a new village in Rahim Yar Khan, south of Punjab.
Mr Constandinos Patrinos, 36, couldn’t believe his luck when his ticket was pulled out of the hat, especially given the fact that he received the call on the anniversary of his late mother’s birthday.
Mr Patrinos, said; “I was totally dumbfounded when I received the phone call to say I had won the car. I am absolutely delighted and still can’t quite believe it.”
The presentation took place at the group’s Cargo Fleet Lane supersite where Nas Khan presented Mr Patrinos with the key to his new motor.
Nas said; “On behalf of The Emaan Foundation, I would like to wish Mr Patrinos many years of happy motoring in his new motor.”
“The support from the public, members of staff, family, local schools and the business community, has been absolutely incredible and I would like to thank everyone who has made a contribution.”
“We still have £35,000 to raise, but I am extremely confident that we will achieve our target.”
The Emaan Foundation’s appeal to raise £120,000 was launched in September 2010 and was kick-started with a sponsored car wash which saw Nas wash hundreds of cars at his branch network across the region.
Since then, a host of fundraising activity has taken place including sponsored bike rides, various evening events and auctions, numerous golfing events and a clothing recycling initiative, which has boosted funds in excess of £85,000.
