Teeing off for charity

A recent golfing event has further boosted funds for a local businessman’s charity, The Emaan Foundation.

Set up by Nas Khan, managing director of Jennings Motor Group, which operates Ford, Mazda and SEAT dealerships across the North East, the overall aim of the charity is to help rebuild lives in his former native country, Pakistan, following the devastating floods last summer.

The latest fundraising drive involved members of staff and suppliers of the company, exchanging their suits for golfing attire and teeing off for an enjoyable  round of golf at Beamish Park Golf Club in Stanley, County Durham.

After three hours of birdies, bogies and eagles, charitable participants retired to the Clubhouse for refreshments.

“I was absolutely delighted with the event which raised more than £1000, it was such a success that we are already organising something similar on Wednesday 24th August at the same venue,” said Nas Khan.

Fundraising has now topped the £80K mark and Nas is delighted to be embarking on the final hurdle of the £120K fundraising target total.

Two thirds of the money already raised has enabled work to start on site for the people of Rahim Yar Khan, south of Punjab, where a village is currently being constructed.  Upon completion, the village will consist of 60 homes, a deep tube well and livestock.

Nas added; “Thanks to the continued support and generosity from the people of the North East, we are now embarking on the final phase of our fundraising appeal.

There’s also still time to purchase a ticket for our raffle, which involves winning a brand new car worth more than £9000.”

Tickets for the Ka raffle are priced at £50 each and only 300 have been printed.

Nas went on to say; “If any local businesses would like to hold any fundraising events and help raise money for the charity, I would very much like to hear from them.  We also have a justgiving page set up, which could be utilised as part of any fundraising ideas.”
